THE near DEATH AND RE BIRTH
OF A
1979 HUNTER 37 CHERUBINI CUTTER
The base of the pipe attaches to the toe rail with two bolts. Wires are routed into a clamshell vent placed at the end of the cockpit. All these wires will be in a flexible conduit eventually. I will have to take it down for transport so I really have not finished the wrapping part.
Again, because of space, I loaded this pole with items I felt I needed and had no room to install anywhere else. I felt I needed two lights in order to light up the night. I have one aimed to the rear of the boat in order to light up the stern ladder and the dinghy in case I have to use it at night. The other light is aimed at the cockpit in case I need light it up. Above that, I have an EDSON radar platform with the large outrigger that carries two antennas. One is a back up VHF and the other one is a rubber antenna for my FM radio. The Radar sits on top of that. Then an EDSON rear pipe has a V platform that carries the TV antenna and the Sat Nav antenna along with a back up anchor light. Since I already have an anchor light on top of the mast, I may replace this light with a stern light as the present stern light get covered by the dinghy when hoisted on the davits.
The crane arm stores easely in the lazzarette and installs quickly. The vang snaps on to the crane. I have an engine carrier strap system that wraps on the motor housing and has a handle on top. I atach the shackle to it and lift the engine with it.
Two tabs welded on the pole allow me to run two pipes to the pole stabilizer. That way I can install the engine carrier on the side of the boat and not the rear were the dinghy resides. I have the same set up on the other side and I have the BBQ grill there. That way, the stern stays pretty clear.
The pipe has tabs for the stabilizers to attach to. One goes down to the toe rail at the same angle as the Bimini frame pipe. The other ties the radar pole to the Wind Turbine pole.
